The Political and Moral Philosophy major requires 16 courses: 12 in philosophy and 4 in a related field such as political science, economics, or history. The Political and Moral Philosophy concentration has a distribution requirement and a level requirement.
 
The distribution requirement is satisfied by a student successfully completing the following nine courses:
·       PHIL 1330 (002): Introduction to Ethics, PHIL 1433 (008): The Social Contract, or PHIL 1450 (077): Philosophy of Law
·       PHIL 1710 (005): Formal Logic
·       Three contemporary value theory courses (in addition to above)
·       Two courses in contemporary theoretical philosophy such as: metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, philosophy of science, philosophy of mathematics, and logic
·       Two courses in the history of philosophy
 
The level requirement is satisfied by a student taking at least four courses 2000 or above, including two 3000-level courses (one of which must be in contemporary value theory, such as PHIL 3330 (372) or PHIL 3431 (376)).
 
Of the 4 courses from related fields, no introductory courses are allowed, except ECON 0100 (001) and ECON 0200 (002). The selection of these courses must be approved by the Undergraduate Chair in Philosophy.
