I am a second-year Ph.D. student primarily interested in philosophy of science and aesthetics. Although my interests are broad, here are some topics I've been pondering recently:
- The incommensurability (in a Kuhnian term) between indigenous and local knowledge (ILK) and Western science, and the possibility of relational ontologies (such as Karen Barad's agential realism) and, more generally, new materialism being solutions to the incommensurability.
- How value-laden modeling decisions (e.g., types of models, idealizations) are in ecology, and how such decisions may make us inadvertently commit ourselves to particular environmental practices.
- How aesthetic engagement with the environment can help us mitigate environmental crises
- How to define and understand creativity in the age of artificial intelligence
Outside of philosophy, I love unwinding in nature, tasting wines, being infatuated by videos of classical pianists zoning in, and doing Olympic-style weightlifting.
