The paper offers a new interpretation of Aristotle's 
analysis of akratic action in Nicomachean Ethics VII 3. Employing 
resources that Aristotle provides in NE VII 3 and elsewhere in his 
corpus, I argue for an interpretation according to which akratic 
action arises from psychological conflict and can be clear-eyed, in 
the sense that the akratic agent can be aware of the fact that they 
should not be doing the specific thing that they are doing.
