B.A. in Philosophy and Economics, Brown University, 2022

I am a first-year Ph.D. student, originally from Istanbul, Turkey. My primary philosophical interests are ethics and moral psychology. In ethics, I am particularly interested in our relations to others and the concept of meaningfulness as it relates to our lives. In moral psychology, I am interested in subjectivity and the emotions, especially morally problematic ones such as pity and anger. My interests in these areas has been shaped by the works of philosophers in the 19th and 20th century, such as Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, the French existentialist tradition, and Iris Murdoch, as well as ancient philosophers, especially Plato.
