Research Interests: 

Since returning to teaching after two college presidencies, I have been engaged in an extended research project on the nature and source of evil. I am especially interested in whether evil acts are inescapably incomprehensible (as some have argued) and what (if anything) distinguishes evil acts from immoral behavior.
