Penn has considerable strength in aesthetics, with Guyer continuing to pursue his longstanding interests in Kant's aesthetics, but now also working on a comprehensive history of philosophical aesthetics from the beginning of the eighteenth century through the end of the twentieth. Camp works on a variety of topics in aesthetics that intersect with philosophy of language and mind, such as metaphor and sarcasm, fiction, pictorial and musical representation, and emotions.
